Enjoy the Mountains with Public Transportation! The administration offices of Yangmingshan National Park will open as usual and offer its services during the Chinese New Year holidays.
With the Chinese New Year approaching, Yangmingshan National Park welcomes the public to take a relaxing stroll on the mountain, escape from the disturbances of city life, and greet the New Year by making themselves close to nature.
After 3 months of renovations, the Yangmingshan National Park Visitor Center reopened on January 1, 2017 to offer all kinds of services to visitors. The new exhibition area contains exhibits for eco-environmental preservation and environmental education promotion. Among the exhibits, the historical heritage section recounts the history of Yangmingshan from the Ketagalan culture, Dutch occupation, the Qing Dynasty, the Japanese occupation, all the way to the National Government of the Republic of China. The industries, villages, and cultural activities of these eras are fully showcased in the exhibition. The audiovisual room was readjusted to provide a better video viewing environment for visitors; the number of shows has also been increased to bring improved services for the new exhibition hall. The Administration welcomes visitors to make the Visitor Center their first stop on the mountain to obtain relevant information before enjoying an in-depth experience at the Park's various scenic spots.
In order to serve the vast number of visitors, the Administration of Yangmingshan National Park (hereinafter referred to as the Administration) will continue to offer its services during the Chinese New Year holiday. The Visitor Center and each visitor service station will open from 9AM to 4:30PM every day except Chinese New Year Eve on January 27.
Additionally, the Administration encourages visitors to use public transportation in order to alleviate heavy traffic in certain scenic spots. To improve parking space turn-over rates, the Administration adopts the user-pays principle. Starting from January of 2017, in addition to the existing paid parking lots (Lengshuikeng No. 1, Qingtiangang Grassland, and Xiaoyoukeng), 9 other parking lots (Lengshuikeng No. 2 - Hotspring Bathroom, Menghuan Pond, Xiaoguanyin, Xiaoyoukeng Bridge, Anbu, Erziping No. 1 & No. 2, and Datun No. 1 & No. 2) will also become paid parking lots. Parking fees are charged by the hour (NT$20 to 30 per hour per vehicle), and payments can be made by EasyCards, iPass, and e-tags. The Administration encourages the use of public transportation, recreational buses, and park bus for sightseeing around the Park.
After Chinese New Year, the Taipei City Government Public Works Bureau Parks and Street Lights Office will host the "2017 Yangmingshan Flower Festival" from February 10 to March 19. The event will last 38 days, followed by the Taipei City Government Economic Development Department's "Festival of the Calla lily" from March 20 to April 19.
